Marijuana

Do you have experience with marijuana? Is it an addictive thing? Nowadays, many countries have a problem that people use the drug. The drug can make many problems such as hurting people, making violence, and stealing money. According to the Institute of Medicine (2000), “Given the well-known consequences of tobacco smoking, it seems logical to suspect that marijuana could be equally detrimental to physical health. Although free of nicotine, marijuana smoke certainly pollutes the lungs. And since tobacco smoking has been linked to respiratory injury, cancer, emphysema heart disease, complications of pregnancy, low birth weight, and other ills, it makes sense to worry whether smoking marijuana might prove equally harmful" (para. 2). Some people want to use marijuana because it can make them feel good. In my country, this is big problem because when a drug dealer wants to sell to other people, they are usually gangsters. We should ban selling drugs and should make a strong law.

Marijuana is not only a drug, but also it can be a medicine. However, it can make many problems such as people having more violence, and sometimes the drug can kill the people. Also, the drug can cause confusion in society.

First, when people use the drug, they can make more violence. If the marijuana is made a legal, it could cause more violence, because the drug users usually make a problem. For example, the drug users seem like drunken people. So, when they use the marijuana, they will lose control. It can make violence.

Second, marijuana can kill people because when people lose control and they take a marijuana a lot, it could kill them. According to Roth (2008), many people do not want to legalization of marijuana because it can cause a serious problem and there are too many who abuse it. Thus, marijuana should be illegal because we want a safe life.

Finally, the drug can make confusion of society because when marijuana is legal, many drug dealers can sell it easily. It can make a bad society. According to Roth (2008), “In Amsterdam, Holland, where marijuana is legal, crime and hard drug use remains a problem. Marijuana has serious harmful effects on the skills required to drive safely: alertness, the ability to concentrate, coordination, and the ability to react quickly. These effects can last up to 24 hours after smoking marijuana use can make it difficult to judge distances and react to signals and sounds on the road” (para. 13). Thus, marijuana should be illegal.

In conclusion, we should make marijuana illegal because it caused so many problems such as killing people and making more violence. Also, it can make confusion of society because it can increase criminality. Thus, we should not legalize marijuana.
